Armagh GAA Coaching and Games Programme

The Armagh GAA Coaching and Games Programme has six target areas. Each area is organised and rolled out in partnership with Armagh GAA, National Coaching and Games and Ulster GAA. The activities and initiatives that are contained within each of the key areas are in line with National Policy.

Each of the Target Areas have certain activities, specific timelines, indicators of achievement and desired target outcomes. These indicators and target outcomes are assessed by National Coaching and Games based on the number of participating units and level of quality of each area.

Area One

Games Opportunities Child

This target area is focused on providing children from age 8 to 12 with the opportunity to play our games. The activities are linked closely with our key partners in Cumann na mBunscol Ard Mhacha and Armagh Minor Board. The following activities are delivered within this target area:

Go Games Activity Week, Go Games Croke Park Activity Day, Club Go Games Blitz/Mini Leagues U8, Go Games Blitz/Mini League U10, Go Games Blitz/Mini League U12, Primary School Hurling Blitzes, Primary School Football Blitzes, Primary School Indoor Blitzes, National League Half Time Games and County Final Half Time Games.

Area Two

Games Opportunities Youth

This target area is focused on providing children from ages 13 to 18 with the opportunity to play our games. These activities are linked closely with our key partners in Armagh Secondary Schools and Armagh Minor Board. The following activities are delivered within this target area:

Feile Competitions, Og Sport, Minor Board Leagues, Minor Board Championships, School Super Touch Games and School Colleges and Vocational Competitions.

Area Three

School Initiatives

This target area is focused on activities that are organised and rolled out in the primary school and secondary school environment. The activities in this target area will provide the children involved with the opportunity to develop the fundamental movement patterns to play our game, the skills required to play our games and also the strength and conditioning required to play our games. The following activities are delivered within this target area:

Primary Schools Coaching for Key Stage 1, Primary Schools Coaching for Key Stage 2, Secondary Schools Squad Coaching, Secondary School Strength and Conditioning Programme and Club School Link.

Area Four

Camps

This target area is focused on providing children aged from 5 to 15 with the opportunity to take part in two National Initiatives that are rolled out during the summer months. These initiatives will provide the children with the opportunity to learn and develop the skills required to play our games. The following activities are delivered as part of this target area:

Kelloggs Cul Camps and Lenovo Skill Hubs.

Area Five

Talent Academies

This target area is focused on providing children ages 14 to 17 with the opportunity to play our games at a higher level. The Academies are designed to empower and give players the opportunity to play competitively for Armagh. The Academies are designed to provide players from U14 to Senior Level with a structured pathway to play for the Armagh Senior Team. They are also designed to instil in participants a desire for continuous improvement, education and personnel development. The following activities are delivered as part of this target area:

U14 Mid Academy, U14 South Academy, U14 North Academy, U15 South Academy, U15 North Academy, U16 Academy ,U17 Academy and Senior Academy.

Area Six

Learning and Development

This target area is focused on providing coaches with the opportunity to advance their coaching knowledge and expertise. The Learning and Development target area is designed to educate the coaches who are working within Armagh Clubs, Armagh Primary Schools, Armagh Secondary Schools and Armagh Academy Squads so that they can deliver the content required at each specific age level. The following activities are delivered as part of this target area:

Safeguarding Workshops, Foundation Awards, Level 1 Awards, Level 2 Awards, ELearning GAA Online Workshops, ELearning GAA Online Foundation Awards, Armagh Coach Professional Development Workshops, Academy Coach Education and Go Games Referee Courses.
