Ulster success at Scór na nÓg

Armagh GAA is celebrating after two of our acts won Ulster titles at Saturday night’s Scór na nÓg in Galbally.

Whitecross dancers produced a flawless performance of Trip to the Cottage to make it through to the All-Ireland final on Saturday 11 February in the Waterfront Hall in Béal Feirste. Whitecross are no strangers to All-Ireland finals, having competed in 2012, 2013 and 2014, but the national title has thusfar eluded them. This year’s team of Sarah Gahan, Ciara Mc Cann, Cailíosa Ní Dhúill, Orlagh Mc Kenna, Síofra Mc Guinness, Laura Mc Kevitt, Amy O Callaghan and Fainche Quinn will hope to retain the national céilí dancing title for Ard Mhacha, after Silverbridge won the coveted All-Ireland title last year in Killarney.

The young people of Cullyhanna continue to impress with their impressive Léiriú act entitled Aunty Bee’s Toy Shop. The reigning All-Ireland champions for léiriú put in an accomplished performance at Saturday’s Ulster final, which suggested that they do not intend to lose grip of the All-Ireland crown. The léiriú team of Oran Murray, Orlaith McDonnell, Caoimhe McParland, Eimear Rushe, Erin O’Reilly and Karen Quinn captured the attention of the audience who enjoyed the acting abilities and the humour provided on stage. Cullyhanna will join Whitecross and the quiz team from Silverbridge in Béal Feirste on 11 February.

Armagh was also represented by Carrickcruppen ballad group, Piaras Ó Lorcáin from Cross Rangers in solo singing, Amy O’Hanlon from Dromintee in recitation and the Dromintee set dancers, who all performed very well and represented their clubs and Ard Mhacha with great distinction. Well done to them all for reaching the Ulster final.

Guíonn coiste Scór Ard Mhacha agus CLG Ard Mhacha gach rath ar an Chrois Bhán, ar Choilleach Eanach agus ar Bhéal Átha an Airgid i gCraobh na hÉireann de Scór na nÓg.

The Armagh Scór committee and Armagh GAA would like to extend very best wishes to the young people of St Cillians GAC Whitecross, St Patricks GAC Cullyhanna and Silverbridge Harps GAC in the All-Ireland final.
