Armagh Skill Coaching Workshops January 2018

Armagh GAA in partnership with Ulster GAA will host a series of Workshops in January 2018 concentrating on Skill Development.

The Workshops will take place in the Armagh Orchard Leisure Centre from 8pm to 10pm on the following dates:

Wednesday 10th January

Wednesday 17th January

Wednesday 24th January

In preparation for this, Clubs are asked to nominate one coach per club to attend.

The idea behind the workshops is for this Coach to be trained up in skill development coaching and then for this Coach to roll out the program to the coaches within their club.

This person would need to be an experienced coach who would be comfortable in training up the coaches within their club.

Can you please forward this information onto the coaching officer within your club who would be in a position to nominate the person in question.

Please see information below relating to the workshops.

Why we are delivering this….Technical proficiency is the bedrock of creating better players who will deliver better games.

What the workshops offers
3 workshops dedicated to breaking down and re building the key skills. Coaches will also be trained to deliver this expertise to other coaches in their clubs.

Workshop 1: Kicking & Catching – This is an interactive indoor workshop (Hall/Gym). Club coaches will be taken through the coaching points of various kicking/catching skills. At the end of this session the coaches will know the coaching points of kicking and catching and be able to coach these skills through various activities.

Workshop 2: Tackling and Evasion – This is an interactive indoor workshop (Hall/Gym). Club coaches will be taken through the coaching points of various tackling/evasion skills. At the end of this session the coaches will know the coaching points of tackling and evasion and be able to coach these skills through various activities.

Workshop 3: Coaching the Coaches – This is an interactive indoor workshop (Hall/Gym). Club coaches will be taken through tutoring skills (theory) and get the opportunity to practise these skills with the rest of the group.

How to get involved…club coaches……clubs will be asked to nominate 1 club coach who will go through the series of workshops to be upskilled. They can then help build coaching capacity within their own club.
