CLUB CHILDREN’S OFFICER WORKSHOP
WEDNESDAY 8th MARCH 2017 at 7.OOPM IN THE CEANNARAS ARMAGH

Arrangements have been made with Bernie Fox of Ulster GAA to hold a CHILDREN’S OFFICER WORKSHOP in the Ceannaras on Wednesday 8th March at 7.00pm. This particular Workshop was launched by Croke Park in 2016 and some of our Children’s Officers participated in it, while it was being piloted, during February, 2016.
We are hoping that all Children’s Officers in Armagh, who did not take part in 2016, will register for this workshop to be held on the 8th March. Carly, the Administrator at the Ceannaras, should be contacted, as soon as possible, so that she can reserve a place for the Children’s Officers who wish to attend. Last February, thanks to the interest shown, we had two Workshops on the same evening, one in the Ceannaras and the other in the Pearse Óg Clubrooms.
Clubs are asked to encourage their Club Children’s Officer to register for this important workshop. It forms part of the training which is essential for the proper fulfilment of the role of Children’s Officer.
It is a pre-requisite for attendance at the Children’s Officer Workshop, stipulated at National Level, in fact, that Children’s Officers have completed the 3 Hour Safeguarding Awareness Course. This is a component of Coaching Courses, but it is also organised regularly, on request by clubs, throughout Armagh, on a stand-alone basis. In order to facilitate all who may wish to attend the Children’s Officer Workshop on the 8th March and who have yet to complete Safeguarding Awareness, Denis Holywood, Games Development Officer, will put arrangements in place for a 3 Hour Safeguarding Course, on a date prior to the Children’s Officer Workshop. It is, therefore, very important that the Children’s Officers contact Carly, in the office at the Ceannaras, as soon as possible, indicating whether or not they also will be attending a Safeguarding Course, prior to participation in the Children’s Officer Workshop. Early application will assist Denis greatly in organising a tutor and making arrangements.
Bernie Fox has also requested that applications for the Children’s Officer Workshop should also be made as early as possible. Around 15/16 participants in a Workshop is ideal and she would like to know, in advance, if numbers are likely to be much larger than this, in order to put arrangements in place to cater for demand.

PLEASE, THEREFORE, ADVISE YOUR CLUB CHILDREN’S OFFICER OF THIS IMPORTANT TRAINING OPPORTUNITY ON WEDNESDAY 8th MARCH AT 7.OOPM IN THE CEANNARAS AND ENCOURAGE HIM/HER TO MAKE EARLY APPLICATION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CHILDREN’S OFFICER WORKSHOP.
