The U14 hurling Academy squad played three games in Garvaghey, County Tyrone at the weekend. Their first game was against Tír Eoghain. The Armagh boys started with great intensity and their hurling matched it with some great link up play and fantastic scores. The game finished Ard Mhacha 6-16 Tír Eoghain 0-6. The second game was against a stronger Tyrone team. The boys got off to a slower start and found themselves a few scores down at the interval. However, they showed great character in the second half and they turned the game around to come out on top on a scoreline of Ard Mhacha 8-8 Tír Eoghain 3-11. Their final game was against a strong Donegal side who had also won their first two games. It was a tightly-contested game from the start with Donegal edging it by 2 points at the interval. However, once again the Armagh boys never gave up and after another great performance in the second half, they came out on top again with the game finishing Ard Mhacha 4-12 Dún na nGall 3-9. All 26 players were involved in each game. They all hurled excellently throughout and were a credit to themselves. It must also be noted that as well as fantastic hurling and attitude on the pitch, they were also commended for how well they behaved.
