Armagh and Fermanagh continue to be neck-and-neck at the top of Division 3 of the Allianz Football League, after both maintained their unbeaten run. Armagh lead the way in the division due to better score difference.
Armagh claimed their first league win over Clare since 1976, with a 3-11 to 1-11 victory at Cusack Park, Ennis.
A 65th-minute Tony Kernan goal proved crucial for Kieran McGeeney’s charges in a game where Clare responded strongly after a poor start.
Goals from Ethan Rafferty and Kernan helped Armagh to a 2-08 to 0-04 interval lead, but Clare fired 1-05 without reply on the restart, including a Podge Collins goal.
With 15 minutes remaining just two points separated the sides on a 2-09 to 1-10 scoreline, but Armagh finished strongly with Kernan’s second goal helping us to a six-point win.
Next up for Armagh as we continue our promotion fight is a home fixture with Louth on Saturday 28th March in Athletic Grounds at 7pm. A win will secure our promotion and a place in the Division 3 Final to be played in Croke Park on 25th April.
