Armagh minor footballers get their competitive season underway tomorrow when they host Cavan tomorrow in the Athletic Grounds at 2pm, as part of a double bill featuring the minor hurlers against Aontroim. Speaking on the eve of the Cavan game, team coach Davy Wilson told armaghgaa.net that the boys were very much looking forward to the challenge. “The boys have been working very hard at training and are looking forward to the league games. Minor football at county level requires a huge commitment and all of the boys are adapting very well.”
With games coming up against An Cabhán, followed by trips to An Dún and Muineachán in the next couple of weeks, the management team of Aidan O’Rourke, Paul McGrane, Martin O’Rourke and Davy will hope to gain a lot from this league campaign. The St Peter’s clubman explained, ” We plan to get a look at as many players as we can in the league games, particularly as some boys have just joined us after campaigns with their schools. We have a lot of promising talent coming through and we hope to help them improve in the coming weeks.”
Focusing on Saturday’s game against Cavan, Davy added “First of all, we will try to win the game and replicate a lot of what we have done on the training field. Equally, we will be looking at individual performances and how each player is contributing to the team.” Guíonn muid gach rath ar bhainisteoirí agus ar fhoireann Ard Mhacha amárach sa Pháirc Lúthchleasa. We wish Davy, Aidan, Paul, Martin and the boys the very best of luck in their opening competitive fixture against Cavan on Saturday. Ard Mhacha abú.
