Successful Armagh GAA Open Day and Funwalk

The increasingly popular National GAA Open Day took place on Monday 5th of May in the Athletic Grounds. Huge numbers of GAA fans were expected following the crowds who attended the previous two years’ successful events. Yet again Armagh fans were not found wanting, for they came in huge numbers, both young, old and in between, from all parts of Armagh, to show their support for our Armagh GAA heroes.

A welcome addition this year was the sponsored fun-walk which attracted a few hundred participants and raised some much-needed funds for the Armagh County Board. Younger Armagh fans were also treated to stadium tours, face-painting, balloon craft and goodie bags. Linwood’s Armagh TV were on hand to capture the highlights.

The theme for this year’s championship is again ‘Nothing Beats Being There’ and Armagh County Board encourage all their supporters to come out and support all their teams, in all codes, during this year’s championship and together we can have an exciting summer season. Armagh senior footballers meet Cavan on the 8th of June in the Athletic Grounds. The next Armagh Hurling fixture will take place in Athletic Grounds and their opponents will be known after next weekend (please keep an eye on our new county website or Facebook/Twitter for details).

The Armagh County Board thanks everyone for coming to open day again this year and a big thanks to all the volunteers who made it possible. Go maire Ard Mhacha inár gcroí go deo.

Please support Armagh County GAA by purchasing your tickets for the Derek Ryan dance concert in the Athletic Grounds on 31st May from county board office or http://dev.armaghgaa.net/armagh-shop/
