McCavitt SLAMS at U.S. Junior Handball Nationals
After being beaten by Anthony Collado in the small ball quarter-final on a scoreline of 21-13, 21-9, young Conall McCavitt (pictured above) turned his focus to the big ball game. This is the first year where Big Ball Four Wall (40×20) has been introduced at the Junior Nationals.

McCavitt has not only been a notable force throughout the Junior ranks in the World in One Wall Big Ball, winning two World titles last year, but he is also one of Ireland’s top Senior Big Ball One Wall players currently.

The Big Ball Four Wall(40×20) code is new to him, but as always, Conall cherishes a challange and he found himself through to the final of the 19&U Singles grade. Unfortunately, Conall was unable to display his talents as Jacob Rodriguez of Santa Barbara, CA didn’t show up to compete against the strong Clann Eireann man.  As a result, Conall won by forfeit.

He then join forces with Jason Cahill from Tipperary where they emerged Champions in the 19&U Big Ball Four Wall Doubles competition on a scoreline of: 15-6, 10-15, 11- 7 against the more experienced pairing of Rodolfo Ruiz / Matthew Salas from Pasadena, CA.

Although Conall didn’t get to play for his medal in the singles competition, he surely shone through in the previous rounds and also in the Doubles.  He also got a special mention on the U.S. Handball Website as one of the future stars of Big Ball 4wall.

The Lurgan clubman trains hard and commits himself in everything that he does to constantly improve his handball game.

Everyone at Armagh GAA Handball is extremely proud of Conall’s recent exploits in U.S.A.

Have a safe trip home.Mol an oige agis tiocfaidh siad.
