Armagh senior hurlers picked up their first win of 2016 when they had a comfortable victory over a relatively depleted Queens University side in the Conor McGurk tournament on Wednesday night.

In the first half, Cahal Carvill who was captain for the night hit a hat trick of goals and John Corvan in full forward finished the half with two.
With Armagh well ahead at half time, manager Sylvester McConnell introduced a number of the younger players on the squad. The team maintained the same intensity as the first half and a further two goals from Cormac Toner and Michael Doran, making his senior county debut completed the rout for the Orchardmen.
Full time Ard Mhacha 7-15 Ollscoil na Ríona 0-9.
The hurlers return to action on Sunday at 12 noon when they will play Antrim at the Queen’s playing fields.
