Armagh Hurlers receive Merit Award

Armagh senior hurling vice-captain Simon Doherty received a special merit award on behalf of all of his team mates at the recent Irish News Volunteer Awards last week.

The award was in recognition of the hurlers’ fantastic year of achievement in which they earned promotion to Division 2A, having claimed the 2B trophy after victory over Ulster rivals Down in the final, reaching the Nicky Rackard final were they narrowly missed out to Mayo in the final at Croke Park, and only the county’s third appearance in the Ulster final, were they went down to Ulster kingpins Antrim. Simon was presented the award by Irish News editor Noel Doran and was joined on the Awards Evening by senior hurling manager, Sylvester McConnell. Comhghairdeas le h-iománaithe Ard Mhacha. Congratulations to the Armagh hurlers.
