Mayo up next for Hurlers

Following last weekend’s Nicky Rackard win against Dún na nGall, the Armagh senior hurlers will make the long journey down to Ballina where they take on Maigh Eo in the second round of the Nicky Rackard Cup.

Armagh will aim to reproduce the form which saw them earn a 1-17 to 1-10 victory over Mayo in last month’s national league tie. Mayo meanwhile claimed a good win over Tyrone and bolstered by the return of dual star Keith Higgins, will be looking forward to welcome the Orchard county to Ballina, as they attempt to quickly reclaim their Christy Ring status, having moved down a grade last year.

Armagh’s last visit to Mayo also proved to be a very fruitful one with a big win in Castlebar during last year’s league campaign. Armagh know that they face a huge challenge on Saturday, but they will travel to Ballina knowing that a win will secure a semi-final spot in three weeks time. A loss and there’s a quarter-final spot awaiting next week.

Good luck to the senior hurlers and their management team this weekend in Ballina. Ádh mór ar na h-inreoirí agus ar na bainisteoirí Dé Sathairn. The game will throw in at 1.30pm.
