Special merit award for Hurlers

Armagh senior hurlers received a special merit award at the Irish News All Star Awards held in the Armagh City Hotel on Thursday evening. The hurlers were recognised for their run in this year’s Nicky Rackard championship, in which they were very narrowly pipped in the final by Roscommon, following wins over Louth, Donegal and Tyrone. The award was presented by Mícheál Ò Muircheartaigh to the senior hurling manager Sylvester McConvell. Despite falling to defeat by the narrowest of margins in the Nicky Rackard final, the hurlers had a good league campaign claiming away wins over Christy Ring sides Meath and Mayo as well as a home win against Donegal. The merit award recognises the strides being made by Armagh hurling and the huge commitment of many people in the county to the small ball game. Comhghairdeas leis na hiománaithe sinsear agus le gach duine atá luaite le cur chun cinn na hiománaithe in Ard Mhacha.
