New stadium sponsorship announced

Armagh GAA has announced a new stadium sponsorship deal with Box-It – a local cardboard box manufacturing company.

It means that, from today (Tuesday 31st January 2023), the home of Armagh GAA will be named, Box-It Athletic Grounds. A significant commercial investment committed for the next three years.

This weekend the Box-It Athletic Grounds will welcome visitors to Armagh’s first home national football league game against Mayo, with a sell-out crowd of over 15,000 expected.

Attending the launch of the official naming were Box-It Managing Directors Barry McAllister and Darren Lockhart, along with Armagh Senior Football Manager Kieran McGeeney, County Chairman Paul McArdle, and senior football joint-captains Rian O’Neill and Aidan Nugent.

Speaking about the new sponsorship deal, Paul McArdle, Armagh County Board Chairman, said,

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Box-It as our new stadium sponsor. This is a significant investment in Armagh GAA which will have huge benefits as we work towards building success both on and off the pitch.

“As we finalise our new strategic plan, we will establish ambitious targets that will require resources to implement. This 3-year investment will certainly help us deliver on those priorities.”

Delighted to be partnering with Armagh GAA, Barry McAllister, Managing Director of Box It, commented,

“It’s a huge privilege and honour to become the new stadium sponsor of the Athletic Grounds. The stadium is one of the top sporting venues in Ireland and has built a reputation for hosting major games over the past 12 years.

“We are proud to be associated with this iconic venue that creates a wonderful atmosphere and experience for visiting club and county teams, and fans right across Ireland. We look forward to working with and supporting Armagh GAA to build future success.”

The redevelopment of the Athletic Grounds was completed in 2011, transforming the grounds into a state-of-the-art stadium with the construction of a 5,700 covered stand and increased spectator capacity of over 18,000.
